Jayavarman cruise – travel Mekong delta

Inspired by the golden age cruise liner Normandie, The MV Jayavarman cruise is a 20th century boutique boat, which marries avant-garde French colonial design with enchanting Indochina architecture. The Jayavarman is Indochina’s first of its kind boutique style river cruise liner and offers uncompromising luxury on 800 m² public space including 4 decks. One of the first of the new breed of river cruisers, it offers passengers a luxurious experience. Tours Indochina Vietnam

A collection of 27 spacious guest suites are scattered throughout the ship. Each stateroom boasts floor to ceiling panoramic sliding glass doors that lead onto a private French balcony – perfect places to luxuriate in privacy and watch the life on the river. Located on the Main Deck, 14 Superior Staterooms feature dark wood finishes and details that are distinctly Indochine. 11 Deluxe Staterooms are located on the Upper Deck and can be joined through a common door to accommodate families or groups. The two Signature Staterooms, the Bao Dai and the Javayarman, each include an additional seating area and a Jacuzzi tub.

The superbly tasteful décor is a wonderful fusion of French colonial and traditional Asian touches: with polished teak, gleaming brass, antiques, crisp cotton and fine silks much in evidence. Couple this with the intimate ambience and service of a boutique hotel and imagine yourself sipping a refreshing ‘sundowner’ at the Funnel Bar, leaning against the gleaming rail and being absorbed by the ever-changing and fascinating life of the sublime river Mekong surrounding you. Life does not get much better than this! Mekong river cruise Vietnam

Along with floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors leading to a full-size private balcony, each of the cabins boasts modern amenities and a combination of French-colonial and traditional Khmer design flourishes. Every cabin features a king-size bed or twin beds and there is a mini-bar, in-suite temperature controls, and phone. En-suite bathrooms feature stylish vanity and glass shower.

At first glance, Jayavarman resembles a Mississippi-style riverboat. At second glance, you realize how far off the mark you are. The balconies on every cabin, the open aft deck with its white canopies and the sleek, retro-looking funnel set you straight. In fact, even though it’s decidedly Indochinoise, the Jayavarman resembles a tropical version of the great French ocean liner Normandie, with a sharp prow and curved aft. This ship, all 700 tons, aims to offer over-the-top luxury in a style reminiscent of Indochine/French Colonial design with Khmer artifacts.

Guests can admire Khmer artifacts in the Henry Mouhot Lounge, mingle in the Club 1930 Bar, dine in the elegant Indochine Dining Hall, and recharge with spa treatments in the Apsara Spa. A Jacuzzi is located on the top sundeck, which offers spectacular views of the passing delta. The crewmembers of Jayavarman are very exceptional, from the moment they board; guests are made to feel at home.
