On this two day adventure, you will travel by boat and bicycle to discover the hidden highlights and the beautiful countryside of the Mekong region. Day 1: Cai Lay – Cai Be – Binh Hoa Phuoc Island

In the first day, you will be picked up at hotel in Saigon and transfer about two hours away by road to the Mekong delta. The Mekong Delta is known as the “ricebowl of Vietnam” and is an incredibly fertile region. The prime industry of food production produces approximately half of Vietnam’s total agricultural output.

During your day you will take an easy, flat ride through the shady canal paths and back roads to discover islands and the countryside in the Mekong Delta, stopping along the way to try the fresh fruit and to have a tasty lunch. In the mid afternoon, you will enjoy a private boat ride on the largest segment of the Mekong River. Then you will arrive at a home – stay in Binh Hoa Phuoc Island in the late afternoon. Day 2: Cai Be Floating Market – Ben Tre – Saigon

We will wake up early to the sounds on the Mekong Delta and take a boat ride to visit the floating market in Cai Be. The Cai Be floating market was formed in the 19th century and it bears all the characteristics of the local’s life in the Mekong region today. All the merchandise and goods are transported to the market by boats. These traders have lived on their boats like their mobile houses for generations. We will continue on the boat ride into the narrow shady waterways to see some more of the real life of the Mekong people. We will witness local families making popped rice, rice paper, coconut candies and various other local homemade Vietnamese products from the area. You will get to sample as we travel.  After we disembark, we will get on our mini bus for a short transfer to Ben Tre and then continue cycling around 30 kilometers through many charming villages in the Ben Tre area. Lunch will be en-route and then it is back into the van for the drive back to Saigon and to your hotel.
