Once in a Lifetime Sampan Adventure
From the moment we were picked up by a driver at our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City until we disembarked in Chau Doc we were treated like royalty on our three day Mekong Delta Victoria cruise in a sampan. The boat had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room area where we could enjoy the view during the day. It could accommodate four people. It also had Wi-Fi and air conditioning.
Our guide Thanh was knowledgeable and friendly. He shared a great deal of information about Vietnamese culture and life on the Mekong Delta. He spoke good English, and went out of his way to be helpful. The rest of the crew was also excellent and our chef cooked delicious meals with lovely presentation.
We really enjoyed all the excursions. A bike ride to visit a pagoda, five course lunch at a renovated, colonial mansion, a tour of a candy factory, where we learned how rice paper is made, seeing the hard workers at a pottery workshop, a tour of a market and flower village at Sad Dec, a ride in a traditional rowboat along a small waterway canal, a visit to Tiger Island enriched our understanding of the Mekong Delta area and the people who live there. We were impressed by the friendliness of the people we met along the way.
This is a once in a lifetime sort of experience and if you want to be pampered we highly recommend this tour.
