Local Private Mekong Cruise Downstream 2 days/1 night Huay Xai - Pakbeng - Pak Ou - Luang Prabang

Day 1: Huay Xai - Pakbeng

After passing through immigration, you will cross the Mekong River to HoueiSay in Laos, where your Lao guide will be waiting for you at the immigration point. After completing border formalities, you board a ready traditional boat for the trip down the Mekong River to Pakbeng. One stop is made en route to  Pakbeng to observe rural life along the Mekong River at Ban Houy Phalam, a Kamu village. Lunch is served on board while cruising. We expected to arrive in Pakbeng late afternoon. You will check into your bungalow and enjoy a few drinks watching the sunset over the mountains and the Mekong River from the swimming pool side terrace. Overnight in Pakbeng

Meal: Lunch on board and dinner at the hotel

Accommodation: Le Grand Pakbeng (Mekong Villa room)

Day 2: Pakbeng - Pak Ou - Luang Prabang

Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the boat pier for your second leg downstream on the Mekong River to Luang Prabang. Our first stop is at Ban Baw village to observe the process of making traditional rice alcohol. Lunch is served on board 

Our second stop is opposite the mouth of the Nam Ou River to visit Pak Ou caves, where there are two caves, ‘Tham Ting’ and ‘Tham Phoum’, and thousands of Buddha images. The boat arrives in Luang Prabang (a UNESCO World Heritage city) before sunset and transfers to your hotel in town. Tours ends

Local Private Mekong Cruise Upstream 2 days/1 night Luang Prabang - Pakbeng - Huay Xai

Day 1: Luang Prabang - Pakbeng

Today, embark on an upstream cruise to Pakbeng. Our first stop will be at the Pak Ou Caves, located at the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Ou Rivers. Here, you can explore two caves, Tham Ting and Tham Phoum, which house thousands of Buddha images.

A delicious lunch will be served on board as you continue your journey. The next stop is at Ban Baw village, where you’ll have the opportunity to observe the traditional process of making rice alcohol.

We expect to arrive in Pakbeng before sunset, where you’ll check in at Le Grand Pakbeng. Enjoy dinner on the terrace while taking in breathtaking views of the Mekong River.

Day 2: Pakbeng - Huay Xai

Breakfast is served on the terrace from 6 a.m. The boat leaves Pakbeng at 8 a.m. And one stop is made en route to Houeixay in order to observe some rural life along the Mekong River at Ban Houy  Phalam, a Kamu village. Lunch is served on board.  We will arrive at the slow boat pier in Houayxay before 5 p.m. (it is possible to continue your journey to Chiang Rai, Thailand, on the same day).
