Bassac Mekong River Cruise

Cai Be – Sa Dec – Can Tho

Experience the true soul of Vietnam aboard the Bassac Mekong River Cruise, a wooden vessel built for slow, deliberate exploration. Crafted entirely from local hardwoods, this traditional boat sails at the peaceful pace of river life itself.

“Wake up early to the smell of fresh-baked bread made daily in the ship’s own onboard galley.”

Instead of rushing past landmarks, guests observe authentic working shipyards, fruit-drying facilities, and emerald rice fields. Daily shore visits by foot or bicycle connect travelers with local families in off-the-beaten-path villages. Consequently, it remains a favorite choice among regional luxury Mekong cruises for authentic cultural living.

Highlights

  • Scenic Waterway Routes: Sail through peaceful stretches of the Hau, Mang Thit, and Co Chien Rivers.

  • Dawn Floating Markets: Board a local boat early to watch traders barter vibrant produce at Cai Rang.

  • Artisan Encounters: Visit traditional noodle factories in Can Tho and handicraft workshops around Cai Be.

  • Golden Hour on Deck: Watch stunning Delta sunsets from the upper deck with a complimentary drink.

Travel Planning Tip: Looking to blend authentic local living into your itinerary? You can easily coordinate short river journeys with a grander Mekong cruise vacation across Vietnam and Cambodia.
